Just looking for any thoughts or experiences from anyone who's taken Cymbalta. I am switching from Lexapro for a number of different reasons and am interested in others' experiences. I suffer from depression, this is my 2nd major depressive episode, as well as anxiety. While I initially had success with Lexapro, it just stopped working and I continue to get worse and worse. I suffer from severe migraines, so Wellbutrin is out of the question because headaches are a major side effect. My doctor and I considered Prozac, but I am having significant sexual side effects from the Lexapro and given the similarities between Lexapro and Prozac and the fact that I am not having success and my current condition, he wanted to try something stronger.

Would love any thoughts, experiences, success stories or otherwise.

Thanks.

Quick update - went down to 10mg of Lexapro today and took my first 30 mg of Cymbalta. I feel strange...sort of "dazed" if that makes sense. My pdoc said that might happen, so it's not unexpected but it just feels a little bit funny. It will pass, it's just my body getting used to yet another drug in my system. I was looking at the meds on my counter this morning...my migraine preventatives, the lexapro, the cymbalta...i can't believe how much i pump into my body every day.

Still looking for any insights anyone out there might be able to offer.

I was on Cymbalta for a year. It really didn't "up" my mood, but I could live with the side effects. That is until I started waking up every night at 3:30/4:30 in the morning. I tried taking it at different times, melatonin, etc., and nothing helped. The PDoc decided since it wasn't really working that well and the resulting fatigue from only sleeping 5/6 hours a night to switch me to another med.

I think Cymbalta made me feel kind of stoned. In the long run it didn't really cut it. I am having better luck with an older drug (nortriptyline). But your mileage can and will vary.
