when i take my ten milligram adderall i start to feel its effects fifteen minutes later and the medication lasts for a good four to five hours. during this time i'm sharper, less anxiety, i can concentrate, i'm calm and focused, generally happier and in an overall better mood. but within five to six hours i literally start to build up tears and become sad and this will drag on for two to three hours. the drug is very helpful but i am thinking about asking the doctor what i should do. i will see if i go back on adderall xr if i still have this problem. the other add medications that ive tried didn't cause this bad side effect but they didn't benefit either. i don't know what's going on. if i take another adderall during this crying spell (i guess that's what to call it) it will go away but of course i would not want to take more because the low dose i'm on works. i will say this though ... that this is the first time ive taken adhd medication without an anti depressant. because three last time I took adderall with one I never had this effect. maybe the cause? i don't know? im .... ill stop hear. (hard to type a lot on a phone) anyway any insight? i dont know if the benifits outweigh the sad crying spells but this drug (benefits) really help me. ill probably ask the doc about xr and go from there.

feedback please

Hey clash. I tried this drug briefly about a year ago. The psychiatrist approved it for off label use for depression. I have a keen interest in what my son takes and how it affects him so honestly admitted to the psychiatrist I tried my sons meds and it gave me a lift, so since I've been depressed and tried antidepressants from a to z he let me try it.

I could only handle 15mg. but later in the night I'd be balling my eyes out. It was like a huge crash. I wasnt on any antidepressants at the time so I don't know if that would help. I do know adderallxr is a stimulant and affects dopamine. So it boosts the feel good chemicals in the brain. I was also on seroquel and it brings the dopamine down.

Are you on any other meds? If you are there could be a drug interaction. You need to tell your doc. But I do know there is a crash after the wearing off...but only my opinion.
Hope you get it sorted out
