I have to switch to Risperdal (risperidone) from Invega due to cost - I can't get free samples anymore.

I'm trying to read those ultra-fine-print patient information sheets but I am having a hard time comparing the two drugs.

Can someone tell me in easy terms HOW MUCH more weight I will gain on Risperdal vs. Invega? Like what % more likely am I to gain weight?

Can you figure that out from the pamphlets, or not?

Quite frankly, if the Risperdal is going to make me gain 100 pounds, I just might be willing to pay the $300 bucks a month for the Invega, not to.

I called the maker of the drugs (both are made by the same pharm company) and they couldn't tell me.

I've been on risperidone for years and never gained any weight from it.

It's going to be hard to tell because weight gain is a side effect that's different for everyone.

If your worried about weight gain from risperdal I've heard that you can take the diabetes drug Glucophage (metformin) to help counteract it.

Info on that here:

Good luck,
Andy...
