Talk to who prescribes it. They say that stuff about any antidepressant and is a "black label" on many of them--meaning the drug manufacturers are required to put that on the drug bottle. There are many factors to take into consideration when it comes to suicidal thoughts/acts and meds. Everything factors in from life events triggering moods to brain chemistry changes. Maybe something changed chemically inside with you and the Lexapro is no longer working as well. You could need a higher dose, or maybe a totally different medication. With this going on for a month, it is definitely time to see you pdoc.

You have a lot going on in your life right now. Can you call your dr. and let them know how you are feeling? As with any med the effectiveness can change over time and depending on your situation can cause different side effects. Please check with your doc. Take care.

I'm thinking about quit taking my lexapro because it could be causing my suicidal ideation. I know it would not be the best route to take, but I have to do something.

Lex:
But dear, if you stop taking it suddenly it can cause the same thing. Please consider tapering off while starting a new med. Please talk to your doctor about it. I know from experience that its no fun dealing with med changes, but do what you need to do to keep yourself safe. Good luck and take care of you (you deserve it!) Kimberly. |
