I just came from my pdoc appt. Every time I go I tell him I'm content with my meds as they are. I'm doing great most of the time. Even my pharmacist told me this week that she has seen a dramatic cahange in me over the last few yrs since I've come off the other meds. She can tell I'm doing much better and has said that it's obvious to her that mI'm not as impaired cognitivly as I was. But my pdoc just wants to prescribe meds every time I go. He wrote a RX for a med I took 3 yrs ago that worked great , but caused weight gain (Risperdal). But I don't want to add it. Why fix what is'nt broke?

Did he write it in the end, right as you were going out the door without any discussion or did you all discuss this? I wouldn't necessarily fill it if you disagree and/or don't feel you need it. But I wouldn't not take it just because of the weight gain, either. If you have a good relationship with your pharmacist, I'd talk with them too, not to "overturn" or second-guess your pdoc but just to get a different perspective. I don't know how your body image is and where weight interacts with your mental health too. Do you have a T? Get a bunch of input from people you know and trust and then make your own decision. It's your health and life but I don't think the pdoc wrote it just to be mean and make you gain weight?

If the doc just handed me a prescription for anything without explaining what it was for, what I could expect, and what improvements might happen when i take it, it's not getting taken. Call the docs office and tell them you have no idea why you were prescribed this and see what they say.

If you're happy without it then don't take it. If my doc didn't explain what something was for she knows I wouldn't take it. The psych I'm seeing doesn't seem to see me so I'm in the process of changing, but he didn't push pills on me
