I have been on Effexor XR for a little over 3 months. I have been on 300 mg for 5 weeks. Raising the dose slowly helped my body adjust to side effects and they were manageable. Then, after being on 300 mg for 4 weeks the side effects of flushing, lack of appetite, and constipation increased slightly, and insomnia started. I got so exhausted I have lowered the dose to 225 mg.
Has anyone else responded this way to Effexor XR? On other doses, the side effects started a few days after the dose was changed, not a few weeks later. My doctor recommended I stay on 300 mg for 8-12 weeks before we consider raising the dose. So, I assume it takes some time for 300 mg to be fully absorbed by the body. Thanks for your help! Caramel
