I was wondering if there is anyone here with any of the Dissociative disorders that takes meds - which one do you take if you do? Or DIDs and the such should not take meds? I don`t have any just wondering...

I'm not DID, but one of my Dx's is DDNOS. I still dissociate occassionally but found the frequency went down dramatically once I went on an antipsychotic - risperidone.

taking Lexapro / Welbutrin. they are antidepressants but also help anxiety. with anxiety level controlled I have less dissociative symptoms because my dissociating is related to my triggers for anxiety.

example - having to speak in public ie at court hearings causes me anxiety, which in turn causes me to dissociate. the medication helps me to remain calm so that I can give my testimony in rape cases, by remaining calm through medication there is no need for me to dissociate.

If your dissociative symptoms are related to anxiety or other problems your treatment provider can help you explore the medication route and help you find the right medication for you.

DDNOS - I take an AD (cymbalta) and an AP (Geodon). They help keep me stable and level and that helps me stay grounded. Don't know if it would help with DID. Everyone might have to be on the same page about the meds.
