![]() I'm pretty used to vyvanse, been on 30mg for a about a year or more now (off and on of course), but i was off for about 2 weeks, and now going on. on a raised dose of 50mg, i'm wondering what should I expect from the norm of when i've been on 30? Will me starting 50 cold turkey (since i haven't been on vyvanse for 2 weeks) have any added effects -good or bad- (besides that i already notice i'm having issues with words, and getting the RIGHT words out. and things are coming out backwards like "babb" was what "bad" was at first, but i noticed it.. ) but would starting on it from nothing bring about anything that would die down after about a week or so of taking it? 30 was pretty much doing nothing after 2 hours (of course after the 2 hrs it took to kick in, then 2 more hours it would work), and all i was left with was me on a normal unmedicated day (minus the effects i have when i haven't taken it for a day or more - that usually lasts 2 or 3 days after taking a "Break" from it. which is like me on an unmedicated day but times it by ten, and i am pretty much a useless zombiefied and deadified person for the withdrawl of the meds (so i guess it still worked, just keeping me from the withdrawl symptoms i had). But will 50 last longer than a few hours? I'm already noticing i'm SUPER rambley which isn't good when my roomie is like "SHUT ... UP!!!..." cause i was like "i'm using 'ified' a lot.. 'zombiefied', 'deadified', 'angleified', " and she cut me off and was like "how bout, shut up-ifed?" and i just laughed it off, and was like "erm kay.. *goes to typing you this super long post which was just suposed to be a short question* lol. (also i'm running on 4 hrs of sleep right now due(like i'm also writing how things sound instead of the word like here with "Due", i had "do" and just now realized it as i was trying to figure out where i was going with this paragraph - because i got sidetracked with cleaning up my room) to not having med yesterday so i wasnt able to fall asleep with mind racing and things, and then i finally fell asleep 2 hours before i had to be up. then once i got home i rested for another 2 hours, then kid was alone and obviously lonely and wanting some attention, so I got up after she knocked on my door and took my med then (the 50mg vyvanse). on 30 i had high blood pressure at the very beginning (it never came back even after the breaks. it was just the intial), but i was previously on prednisone and was also severely dehydrated a lot (Still am dehydrated a lot, with many other deficiencies but all good right now) And so my heart rate is always high with that, vyvanse didn't seem to affect it any (make it go down or up) and when i had this super long break before my previous break (A month worth of no med- 4 weeks before my 2 week break again) it didn't lower my heart rate with not having it, so it isn't part of it. *getting sidetracked with self keep getting focused on music playing* ... anyways.. my question is, with starting on 50 and not tapering upward in dose would this have any diffrent effects than it would if i were to be on 30 then raise to 50? .. What does 50 usually do to people? compared to 30? What should i expect after a few days of being on this? What should I do if i get any unwanted effects (what would these effects be, that are unwanted/not intended), what should be the "stop taking NOW and call my doc" reasons? And on a side question, why is there 30, and 50, but no 40? why would that jump like that anyways? before i was on 30 of vyvanse i was on dexedrine (long time ago, over a year i believe.. not quite sure.. on my dates, i'd have to sit down and really think on it.) and i believe i was on 15 of that (i dont remember right now), so it was like just maybe a 5mg uppage (from 15mg of dexedrine to 30mg of vyvanse) So ("sow" was in place of "So") i was wondering all this (even tho i'm used to what to expect from 30, i've never been raised in something. it's either been lowered or changed.. such as a child and i had ritalin 3 times a day, then in the evening they changed it to half a dose lower than the the morning and afternoon dose, so it just was lowered, then when dexedrine started making me forgetful (and "Forgetfull" was there instead of of "Forgetful" again like the those above). Thx in advanced ^o^

Perhaps if the Vyvanse is not lasting the full day, you could try taking it twice a day--say 30 mg in the morning, and 20 mg halfway through the day. Might help you get the kick you need when it starts wearing off for you. My insurance only pays for one pill for 30 days, though, and would not reimburse for this strategy, i.e. they would pay for 30 50mg capsules a month, but not 30 20mg + 30 30mg capsules, even though it works out to the same amount of medicine. Good luck with the switch to the higher amount of Vyvanse. Hope it goes well, and if anything doesn't go well, check in with your prescriber.

And 50 seems to be too much. Tho today I can notice it's more of an usual thing. (Yesterday after I took it, omg ![]() I also notice the anxiousness is dieing down (That was pill related from yesterday's dose). I can't really tell if i'm more restless than i was off of it, but I know when i was on 30 i wasn't restless, or feel the need to move, or even like when i'm trying to sleep, my arms or legs are still on movement until i fall asleep. I'm thinking after taking this dose for 7 or so days I'll be able to tell what is intial reactions and how the dose will really effect me after I get used to it. Like i'm hoping the restlessness goes away with this dose. I can say my minds NEVER been this smooth and clear before, even on 30 (which i thought was great when i first started it, and I learned all that foggy and hazy and cloud like in my mind wasn't normal (or could be changed for the positive with meds) and now I learn it can get even better). I did also notice when I was on 30mg I sighed a lot .. like the deep sighs.. the kind that your body is like "you need to sigh and it's well needed!" kind of sigh, and my friend said when she was on vyvanse she did that too (i think she was on a lower dose tho, and then when she went up she wasn't doing it anymore). but I haven't noticed i had any of those sighing episodes (it's usualy not like a volutarily sigh either, it's like one just all of the sudden my body decides to take in a really big breath and breathe it out like a sigh (and i dont know what this is, or if it's normal side effect or what-i kinda feel stupid for explaining it but.. eh *shrugs*) And i'm on 50 now which is upp'ed and i'm not sighing like that any more (i do seem to get yawn-y tho), and at the peek of the dose I get chatty (and ramble on, and find things funny that really isn't funny. not situationaly awkward stuff.. just stuff that isn't funny.. or atleast in my opinion i'm like "why do i find this funny?! xD!! I dont know but it's funny-*Realizes someone is eyeing me werid either on instant messenger or elsewhere (irl -in real life).* (usually not irl cause i hardly ever really laugh.. i laugh in my mind.. I guess it just comes from being used to withdrawling to the inside.. like my emotions are shown, but inside my head.. sometimes i force it out on the outside when i'm become aware of it at that time, but it feels forced and not real after i force any of my emotions out on the outside. (vyvanse seems to help me realize when i'm drawing within myself tho too-!! *pulls out notepad to add that to the list of thing vyvanse helps with*(pdoc recently asked "if you dont work, why do you need any medication for adhd?" and all i could say was "uhh... idk, i do tho!" - so i started making a list as to why i need it, (one being the stress in my head is gone when I am on meds for adhd, (the constant on the go-ness) which seems to be what has me get these mysterious depressed periods. (i haven't been on anti depressants for over half a year now, and I'm doing well in that aspect of life. (when I'm not on vyvanse then i slowly seem to make it down in the pits of depression. I don't know really what the real reason is, but I know it isn't present when i'm on adhd meds, and it seems when i'm not, I have contsant thoughts, and memories of the past and then i stress out trying to stop them all, and then i stress over everything, so much that stress feels normal to me (even right now i'm stressed, but it's situational- the fact that i want to finish replying with this, but i need to go get the sides of dinner started. so it's situational, not in my head.) sorry for rambling on so much. Ah, That sounds sorta stupid - how the insurance was like that with you. Maybe it ended up costing more? or maybe it's procedure, to keep those who might be going and getting a second prescription for it or something? I'm also guessing even if my doc decided to do that , my insurance prolly wouldn't pay for it either. (I have state insurance). But I'm not quite sure how long it will normally last with me, but it seemed to last atleast 8-10 hours yesterday (if not more. cause when I woke up this morning, i was still feeling a little of the med.) Thank you ![]()

I have never tried vyvanse...am interested in how you make out with it since it is used in treating ADHD (I am VERY ADHD). My Adderall isn't working anymore.

Seems to be going well. (my health however isn't. *glares at child who brought home ringworm and shared it with all the animals inside and out, and people inside*)
I'm drinking more because I'm dehydrating much faster than off of the med. So things with adhd seem to be going well, but I'm thinking of asking about a non-stimulant my next visit.

I use Ritalin SR 40 mg., generic each morning. It helps with my attention span as well as depression. I've used it for years. The only side-effect is that I already have high blood pressure and these types of meds don't help the situation.

I was on dextroamphetamine for several years, then adderall til that quit. Most recently, my psychiatrist prescribed vyvanse. It was great for the first few days to a week, then the usual dropping off of any benefit. The 50 mg caused bad insomnia. Some days, I've taken small amounts, opening the capsule, probably not a great idea. Most days, I put up with being a useless zombie all day. Is anything else out there? Ritalin did nothing at all.
