Wow, I am realising more and more how shocking my memory is getting. Either when it comes to remembering details of things that happened a few years ago, or even short-term, like a few minutes ago.

I was supposed to place an order at work, then start stressing because I was late, and when I checked, the order had already been placed!
I'm the only one with authority to place orders; i don't remember doing it!

Last night I was getting ready for bed and put all my stuff out. I chilled in front of the TV for 15 mins, then went to bed - I couldn't remember if I'd taken my meds or not - so I took them again...!

I'm currently on Wellbutrin and Lamictin, with a bit of Klonopin and Zopiclone every now and again.

Anyone else really battling?

Yes, I can relate. Since being on meds, I have a very poor memory. My husband and I have alot of disagreements because I cannot remember what he has told me or what I have told him. Also, I have taken my meds twice, I think, because I forgot if I took them in the first place! All in a matter of minutes!
I take Welbutrin and Lamictal too. But I also take Topamax(known for memory loss), Prozac and Abilify.

When I was really depressed, my memory was terrible. I didn't associate it with depression, I just thought I was in a severe mental decline, perhaps due to "growing older." When I stopped being depressed, my memory came back. It was so wonderful to not be so impaired anymore! Right now I take Wellbutrin and Vyvanse for ADHD and have not noticed any ill effects on memory. I also find that getting regular and sufficient sleep is important for my memory.

My memory is terrible too, long term and short term. Between having to write everything down and even using a recorder at times, it still drives me nuts what I cannot remember, what I did, what I didn't and it could have been something just a few seconds ago I was told. I feel badly when someone says, "I just told you that."

A friend got me this great pill container; it has 7 days a week with morning, lunch, eve, and night slots. So this way I know if I took them. Really helps me to at least keep track of it. That's the only thing I'm not losing my mind about now.

You are not alone but I am sorry y'all are experiencing this too.

The meds thing is new. And the memory thing has been coming over time. It's so frustrating.
Not sure if it's the meds, or part of Bipolar/depression. I just want my life back!

I just told my T yesterday how bad my memory is - and I also take Lamictal, Welbutrin and Topamax, as well as Seroquel. Topamax is very well known for memory loss, and my T said my current bout with depression/anxiety can be making it hard for me to remember things. I am making lists every day at work to try to remember things to do - I can't remember words when people talk to me - it sucks. So I totally understand and relate.

It is nice when your stressing out about something, and then you forget what is stressing you out. I love it.

You need to be using a pill sorter/minder so you don't have that problem with meds anymore.

I'm always worried about my memory problems, long and short term. I can never remember something on the stove. I go into a room to fetch something and then forget what item I wanted. Lately, I couldn't remember how to spell a few words. I've never had that problem before. I don't know if it's temporary or permanent cognitive decline, related to depression, anxiety, or previous medications. I really don't trust drug companies to be forthcoming about the potential risks.

I definitely find that drugs affect my memory. Depending on what I take, it can get somewhat better or really bad. I also have fibromyalgia, which is associated with memory problems. And I'm getting some age on me. I am trying to be somewhat accepting of memory difficulties, but they are a real pain! I am trying to be more mindful as I do things, not doing them just out of habit, and I find that that method can help. Plus, as folks have said, writing things down and keeping a pill container can also be useful.

Well, I feel I have 'age' on my side... lol. And on the whole, I consider myself an intellectual person.
I only take 3 pills daily, plus Klonopin as needed - I really should be able to get that right... lol. But walking into a room and not remembering what you were there for in the first place - drives me insane.
And I really try exercise my brain to keep myself sharp (I'm a Sudoku freak and also play 2 games on my PC to keep me stimulated)

I'm not really in a depressed state right now, so I don't think it's fair to blame my memory issues on that.
But it's affecting my work too, as I forget to place orders, or do admin, or even don't remember actually having placed an order...
It's like my life is split in half...

Yes I have a terrible memory. I am extremely bad with names. I read an interesting article that said people with bipolar often have a smaller hippocampus (the part of the brain which plays a central role in memory).

http://www.sciencedaily.com/releases/2007/12/071208081554.htm

I have bipolar II and have a very bad time with my memory. This has often been a source of great confusion because I have a high IQ but a terrible memory.
Thanks for this!

JShect - I'm a lot like you in that I have a high IQ and logical reasoning skills, but my memory is going out the window
