I have taken pretty much all of the SSRI's and SNRI's... soon to be trying an MAOI, except that now, I have extremely bad anxiety and am not sleeping at night!

I don't know what meds to request, and my psychiatrist doesn't seem to offer up any help... he usually just asks me what I want to take....

What is your diagnosis? What do you battle with the most? What meds are you currently on?

If your pdoc cannot make suggestions himself, I think it's time to find a new one

I read that MAOI's have potentially lethal dietary and drug interactions. They should be the very last resort. If your doctor is asking you what you want, then he is probably not the best doctor to see.

Kikki27 might be right. A benzo could be in order. My doctor prescribed me klonopin for anxiety. I have not seemed to build any kind of resistance to the drug, but it does make you a little sleepy.

I wish you the best!

Get a new dr. You shouldn't be choosing your meds, that's just dangerous, it's their job.
