I have tried many anti-depressants over the years; Welbutrin, paxil, prozac, zoloft, celexa, cymbata, effexor, and I am currently on lexapro. There may be a few others in the list that I tried for a short time.

I also have klonapin for anxiety (used to take ativan) these are on an as needed basis.

The thing is, except for the welbutrin, everything makes me "zombie-like" all day. Some are worse than others. I need some energy!!!! I sleep all the darn time. When I am not on the anti-depressants, I cry and sleep all the time.

I am still NOT enjoying life and dont feel like doing anything. I just want to scream! I go back to the doctor in a few weeks and I will ask to try yet another drug but has anyone had any success with meds?

Hi Sun
Please read my post to jpny. Zoloft is a pretty great drug. I wouldn't add any other drugs to it though. But your Dr hopefully knows best.
I've had great success with 50mg a day. Been on it for 15 years.
My ADD improved and emotionally I feel pretty darn good most of the time.
I'd give it another try without anything else if you can.
Good luck Tricee

I have had real success with antidepressants. I have been on them(believe it or not!) for 20 years. The first ten was prozac and the second ten is Effexor XR. I was always very lucky that the first meds always worked for me. The only reason I switched to effexor after prozac is that the prozac after 10 years stopped working for me.
I am indeed lucky that a med has been that effective for me. I have always had major depression and probably had it in high school. I am much older so then in highschool there were not antidepressants like now.
For me the antidepressants changed my life for the better. Before I was impulsive and irrational at times and just plain sick.
I hope things work out for you. Oh, and never did I ever thing I never needed them. I knew I was wired wrong and I knew that the only way to have a better life was to stay on the meds!!
