Please write down your experiences with this medication. I'm taking it for depression and OCD. My doctor started with 20mg (1 pill) every morning about two weeks ago and now im on 60mg (3 pills) every morning and might being going to take 80mg (4 pills) every morning.

Also how long you took it, side effects, how long it took to work etc..

Thanks this will really help me understand from others experiences.

I've been on it about 4-5 weeks and It didnt seem to fully kick in till last week. Now I would say it is working but I have no motivation to do anything really and im going in circles and it leveled me out right away. @20mg had a panic attack and low libido and a bit of constipation.

I had intense, bad headaches from this, had to stop as the doc said headaches are an allergic reaction.
Once I stopped I had my first of a series of panic attacks. That was more frightening than being depressed so I took a break from taking anything.

Good Luck to you though. I hear if it works, it really works well.

Yeah I'm surprised you're going up to 80 mg, that's the max dosage. My head feels cold at 40 mg, that's how I know the dose is too high for me, it's weird! But I took 30 mg my first day and I swear it stopped the voices chattering in my head. I've gone up and down and now settled in at 30mg.

The headache is a side effect and goes away quickly.

I was off meds for a long time, and recently returned to Prozac. I'm on 20mg and hesitant to increase that dosage because I don't want the flatline effect that made me quit taking it. All the initial side effects are gone now, after a few weeks of taking it. I was worried that it would interfere with my therapy, but so far it is not, so I'll keep taking it.. I don't want to take it forever though.

I'm on 80, and I don't feel that "flatline effect"--although I do feel a lot calmer. But my emotions were pretty intense and all over the map, so this is a relief to me.

I just started on 20 mg in the morning 3 days ago, and it's helpful to read these posts. I haven't had any side effects, and am really hoping I have a good effect. I was on Zoloft before that, and Celexa before that, neither of which helped.

prozac was my first med 35 years ago the real prozac not the generic. I was really really sick with side effects for 12 weeks .I stuck with it and came out the other side all in one night. I would have loved just to have had bad headaches has a side effect , you just need ibrufin for that.

They did an experiment in england with a rock star ,an artist and a teacher , who agreed to a 6 month experiment on tv with prozac, The rock stars song became more obout life and loves ,not death , the artist stopped painting doom an gloom an said he now saw more colours, And the teacher started to listen to the kids for a change, the down side they all put on weight
Thanks for this!
