My 20 yr old son has bipolar and his doc is starting him on lithium. While I totally support my son's right to make his own decision about which medications he takes, I have heard some scary things about lithium. Is anyone out there on lithium and if so can you give me some info on it? Thank you.

I've been on Lithium for about 2 years now and it has been working very well for me. I've not had any side effects from it (not that I have noticed). I've not had problems with the lithium since starting it either.

Be sure to have the lithium levels checked regularly and drink plenty of water while taking Lithium.

I've been on lithium for the past eleven months.

The only side effect I get is being nauseous if I don't eat something before taking the lithium, so be sure to "take with food" like the Rx label says. :P
