i remember reading somewhere that certain meds can throw off your sense of taste. i just started synthroid (ok, it's not a psych med, but i bet plenty of people are on it milk products, new meds, and taste), and i notice that all my dairy products taste weird. my milk (nonexpired) tastes really metallic, and some store-bought pudding i had the other day (also not expired) tasted like SALT, bleah! i was expecting chocolate! LOL

just curious as to others' experiences.

What antibiotic are you on? That is a very common side effect of some antibiotics--**especially Biaxin** causing a metallic taste. Very annoying, I surely don't have to tell you! I've heard something before about Synthroid causing unusual tastes, but I can't remember more on that.

I'm on cefadroxil (no idea of brand name) for the cellulitis wound and today my primary care guy gave me Levaquin to try to knock out The Ear Infection That Refuses to Die, Even with Eardrops.

It's all just too much. I'm afraid I'm going to find myself in a coma or something because I take all these damn meds together in all these weird combinations and no one is keeping track. :\

Well, I've been on synthroid 15 years and have never had things taste different. When I was just new at taking synthroid (at 28 years old), I loved milk and ice cream-- consumed them before I started on the medication and after--- I never experienced any taste difference.
For some reason 3 years ago I became lactose intolerant milk products, new meds, and taste-- so I don't consume as much dairy-- but I still LOVE it!!

Anyway-- maybe inky has a good idea-- perhaps it's the antibiotic?? I wish you luck with all this-- you have a lot going on. milk products, new meds, and taste

I've been on synthroid for quite a while now and can't say that I ever noticed a strange taste or food tasting different. I wouldn't think it was that. Could it be the ear infection?
