So I have been experiencing mood swings, crying for no reason and self harming. I am scared but I want to do something about this. Maybe my GP (doctor) could help. I'm worried I might be annoying. I have been twice. The first time. The doctor just gave me a drug called fluxotine and that made me hyper. It didn't help me. I had to visit the doctor because my friend saw my cuts. The second time I went with my mum. The doctor was caring and transferred me to a therapist and gave me my medication. But now I am confused. I can't keep suffering with mood swings. Should I tell the doctor that I have been self harming, suicidal thoughts and that I have been having mood swings? I'm scared and worried.

yes be honest with your doctor. If you're not honest you are wasting your time and money. Also be patient if a med doesn't help you. When a med is prescribed ask how long it will be until you feel an effect. If the med doesn't help you tell your doc and try a different one. It took me several years and a gazillion wrong meds until I found the right meds but I have been stable for four years now so it is worth it.

I would just tell him about the mood swings and tell him you think it might be hormones. How are your periods? ok? just my thought.

Okay I will be honest. Citalopram, which was prescribed to me did work and help to balance my moods or prevent my mood swings.

I'm not on my period at the moment. However, before my period I can be very emotional. I don't think it would be hormones. Why just about mood swings? Would I be in trouble for telling the doctor about my suicidal thoughts and self harm?

You won't be in trouble for telling the doctor anything! He/she might be concerned for you but the doctor is there to help.
