Hi. Let me start by giving you what I take.
Xanax 0.5 at bedtime
Klonopin 1mg 2x/day
Adderall 15mg 2x/day
Metoprolol 25mg 2x/day
Lamictal 200 daily
Flonase

So.... I've been on adderall for years no problems but higher heart rate which they incresed my Toprolol for (I have low blood pressure but tachycardia). Anyway, my problems lately are vocal tics and/or post nasal drip. My mom pointed out that when I was a kid I would clear my throat or make a hum sound frequently. Maybe it's an OCD anxiety thing? I know Lamictal can cause sinus issues but never read anything reputable on tics- just various posts fro
other boards. It's not listed as a side effect but it's driving me crazy!! Problem is Ive tried just about every SSRI in the book and nothing works like Lamictal does. And I'm not even sure it's that. Adderall can cause tics but I've been on that for years. I dunno. Any advice?

What symptoms are you taking Lamictal for? It works quite differently from an SSRI, so I didn't understand your comment, which seemed to suggest you would want an SSRI to substitute for Lamicatal? If you don't want to take Lamictal, wouldn't you substitute another mood stabilizer? Have you tried other mood stabilizers?

I have never heard of Lamictal causing tics, so it might be one of your other meds or even stress. I get a facial tic when I get super stressed out. Adderall is known to cause tics or make them worse, so it might be the Adderall. Just because it hasn't caused tics in the past doesn't mean your body won't change how it reacts today. I have a friend whose son is on stimulants for ADHD and it has caused a vocal tic in him--a periodic grunting. It doesn't seem to bother him, though, so he is sticking with the med.

Maybe you could take a drug holiday from the adderall for a while, say a week or two and see if any improvement with the vocal tic. (Check with your provider before taking a drug holiday.) If it turns out it is the Adderall, then you could try a different stimulant. Also, sometimes taking the extended release version of Adderall can help with side effects that may be apparent on the regular release formula. Just some ideas....
