That's probably because prozac is an antidepressant. It isn't designed to deal with addiction.
You'd probably be better served with talk therapy or one of the addiction meds that interupt the pleasure pathways in the brain. Revia (Naltrexone) is used to treat opiate and alcohol addiction and has also shown positive outcomes in reducing problem gambling behaviour. But it's expensive as all get out, and you need to wear a medic alert bracelet if you're on it, as it will completely block the effect of any opiate based pain killer if you're ever in an accident. You might also want to look into sex addicts annonymous. There isn't a med for everything. -splitimage |

Hiya,
I wanted to reach out to you as I am a sex addict as well. There are no pills that help you overcome addictions, it just takes work and time. What I have found helpful is a program called Sex and Love Addicts Anonymous. It is a twelve step group and is very helpful to me. It has enabled me to obtain over six months of abstinence, which really is a miracle! The website is: www.slaafws.org Check it out. They say you should attend at least six meetings before determining if it is right for you or not. PM me if you want to chat about it. Love and hugs, Tara |
