I upped my dosage today from 25mg to 50 and I have noticed a nasty sore throat. Has anyone else experienced this side effect and if so how long did it take to go away?

When I was on the lowest dosages of lamictal, I really felt like I had the flu. Horrible headache, swollen glands, sore throat, etc. I stuck it out though, and found that as the dose increased, the side effects decreased eventually to the point where I could say I really didn't have any more side effects.

Sore throat is indeed a listed side effect. Unless it suddenly gets worse I don't think there will be any problems as this is a minor side effect. You should feel better as your body adjusts to the new dosage. I hope you feel better.

I had swollen glands this morning and felt achy all over. Med manager made me go to the ER and they told me to stop the meds. It's looking like they're going to pull me off the lamictal............

Oh yeah. Sore throat, headaches, achy, "flui-ish". It all went away in about a week. Discuss with your psychiatrist the best course of action, of course, but I wouldn't bee too discouraged by these startup side effects.

Crap...swollen glands are not a good sign. I'm sorry you had such a bad reaction! I hope that can find an acceptable substitute for Lamictal.

Saw primary doc today and they said I just have a virus, pdoc said I can restart meds tomorrow but I have to do 25mg for another 2 weeks. Geez talk about "the sky is falling". I hope things go smoother from here on out.

I'm on 200mg of Lamictal and the side effects were absolutely awful for the first few weeks, but they eventually decreased a bit. I still few side effects, but not as intensely as when I first started taking it.

Lamictal was a life-saver for me and it is the only med I take. 300 mg for 5 yrs. For me however the sore throat, dry mouth, dry eyes and dizziness really haven't gone away but "relatively" it's better than any other psych/neuro med I have ever tried. I have more of a seizure disorder however. Good luck with it.
