has anyone here taken prazosin for PTSD? im up to 4 mg and although the physical pain of PTSD(burning neck from being choked in a traumatic experience) have not happened in the past 6 weeks since the dose went up to 3 mg,,i am still experiencing intrusive thoughts and nightmares..i would like to know if this medication has helped anyone else..........

also..i am currently taking trazadone, just increased to 350mg,will go up to 400 in 2 weeks..has anyone had some help with this medication?

its been 4 months of increasing the doses of these meds slowly and i just want them to get to a point where it is a good dose,,,it seems to take a long time.....ty

I have not tried prazosinso I can't offer you much help with it. I spent some time on trazadone and it made me very lethargic and lost interest in life. But it might work for you--everybody is different.

You said, "increasing the doses of these meds slowly and i just want them to get to a point where it is a good dose,,,it seems to take a long time." It's great that you have a doctor who is raising the meds slowly because it can be a shock to your body if you're hit with a high dose all the sudden. And you'll be able to stop at the right dose instead of getting too much.

Hi there,

I just wanted to let you know that for the intrusive/obsessive thoughts that Fluvoxamine (Luvox) helped tremendously until I could do enough work in therapy on changing the thoughts and challenging them that I didn't need the meds anymore.

Love and Hugs,
Tara

i stopped taking the trazadone shortly after posting this because it was making me sooo tired and i couldnt do what i needed to do each day..i also stopped taking the prazosin about 2 weeks ago,i was soo light headed and not feeling well most of the time..for some reason the ptsd is not too bad,,maybe iv dealt with some of the things i needed to.. physically i feel much better..
