I've been taking Zyprexa for almost a month now, and I've gained 10 pounds (a lot on my small figure) which just wasn't making me happy...so I went in and saw the Psych NP who is covering for my pdoc while he's on vacation, and we talked some, and decided that since I've read that often Zydis has less of a problem of weight gain than regular Zyprexa, we would give it a try.

I'm hoping that it's true...or that I gain no more than another 5 pounds or so then level out...

We'll see though.

Has anyone had an experience switching from regular Zyprexa to Zydis? Did it have any effect on your weight?

Thanks

I gained a lot of weight on Zyprexa. I had Zydis as a stat med, but never as a original medicine. See ya.

Ah. Well here's hoping that I have no more significant weight gain!

Ive used zydis in the hospital. So I was on zyprexa then on zydis then back to zyprexa. I didn't notice real change except the zydis worked a bit or quite a bit better. I would take zydis now and hopefully avoid the weight gain however I am on disability and zyprexa is covered for me but zydis is not .

Good luck with it, let me know how it goes.

I won't have the Zydis until Monday...the pharmacy didn't have it and had to order it. They thought that it was going to come in today, but it didn't...so until then I'm going with the regular Z.

Just got the Zydis today (the pharmacy finally got it!), so here's hoping it works out well!

First thought of Zydis...YUCK! It tastes pretty nasty...but since I can't dry swallow pills anyway and take my Lexapro and allergy medicine at bedtime anyway, I can take care of that by taking it first and letting my drink from the other meds wash the taste away.

So far so good with the Zydis

I've only gained about a pound or two since starting, and my weight has been stable for a bit over a week.
