Does anyone experience nighttime heartburn that they think is a Lexapro side effect? What about night sweats? I haven't been here in a while. Hi everybody. Hope you are all doing okay.

hello there. been on lexapro about three weeks now and i've been having night sweats, day sweats, have to wear tank tops to stay cool all the time kind of sweats. asked my pdoc about it and its a common adverse reaction.
as far as the heartburn, i'm not the best person to respond because i'm digestively challenged as it is, and couldnt say for sure if its the lexapro or not. if these things are bothering you, you might want to discuss it with your doc. in the meantime, mint is a wonderful digestive aid. try brewing a tea with fresh mint leaves. you also might want to avoid spicy food and anything with tomatos or oranges until youre feeling better.

It's really interesting how the same medication can affect people in entirely different ways.

Let me start by saying that I am Lexapro's NUMBER ONE fan. It made me feel terrific -- I could finally stop dodging speeding bullets. The only side effect it gave me is that I was EXHAUSTED for the first two months... I could barely stay awake, and I was only on 10mg/day. Eventually, that effect wore off, though.

I'm not on it now and don't think I need to be, but I did love it, very much...

I had zip, zero, nada side effects, and it worked great. I just switched back to Celexa for cost reasons, though, and because I couldn't tell a difference from one to the other.

I was on Lexapro for a short time and had no negative side effects. As a matter of fact the med really worked well for me. Unfortunately I became too worried about the potential of weight gain and switched to Wellbutrin.

I didn't gain any weight, if that's any consolation. Neither has my husband, and he has been taking it for a year and a half.

You are not the only one that sweats.....thanks for your
post..... I've been on lexapro for about 2yearsnow. I thought my sweating was menupause. Mysweating is
from the neck up. Idrip with sweat particularly in the
summer. My hair is soaked. I have no underarmsweating. If I drink hot coffee or anything hot
I get hot and start stripping off clothes...Lexipro is
great for my depression, but not for my isolation or
anxiety. I have also gained 20lbs and cant lose the
weight.. I'm also exhausted all the time. I operate at
half speed on a good day. My doc wants me to try
cymbaltic but I'm afraid of the stomack upset. My gut
is not the best... Previously I was on serzone, that drug
did wonders for me. Is there anything out there that
is similar to serzone? Thanks Dar

I tried Lexapro for a few weeks and I did have increased sweating, especially at night. Same thing happened with Zoloft (but not as bad) and now with Wellbutrin, and it's getting worse. I'm sure it's partly menopause, but it definitely intensifies with meds. Lexapro also gave me intestinal problems to the point I was weak all the time. I have chronic heart burn too, but I don't think it has anything to do with my meds- it's acid reflux, which tends to be worse at night. A Prilosec a day keeps it away.
