I am on 70 mg of Paxil. It doesn't seem to be working anymore. I haven't been feeling well. I feel very "unreal" & disconnected from everyone & everything. I am hopefully going to see my Dr this week, but I am worried that he will put me on something else. I've heard HORRIBLE things about when people stop taking Paxil (even when they wean themselves off). I'm also worried about new side effects with a new medicine. I had some really bad side effects at first with the Paxil. Does anyone have any experience switching from Paxil to something else? Or any experience with Paxil at all? Please & thank you.

I was on Paxil for 8 years. I had a very difficult time coming off of it and I was weaned off of it. They tried switching me from Paxil to a few different meds (at different times) I had some bad reactions to that. Eventually I did need to be hospitalized to get off Paxil completely and switched to Effexor, which I wasn't on very long b/c it didn't work.

Do you mind if I ask what you're on now & is it working?

My mom has been on it for years with no problems that is if she does not miss a dose--she is miserable if she misses a dose.

I'm on Klnopin for the anxiety and Lamictal for mood stabilizer. They seem to be working.

70mg? Wow... I'm currently taking 20mg intermittently, and it doesn't seem to be helping that much but I can't stop taking it for some reason....

Paxil is one of the harder medications to work with, I think.

I have been off and on it a few times over the years, no problems! I am on a low dose now and I am fine.

I have cut down from 40mg of paxil to 30 mg..it is hard goi off this drug. My current Pdoc won't even prescribe it unless you are already on it which I was. When I heard how hard it is to get off it I told my Pdoc that I want to be weaned off just incase I lose my benefits. However it saved my fat butt when I first got sick.
