Hi there. Let me start by telling you what I am currently on. 60 mg of Paxil and 75 mg of Lamictal. Both of them are generics, the Paxil is 4 dollars and the Lamictal is about 24. I saw my psych about two weeks ago and he told me to try going up on the Lamictal by 25 mg, I tried this and felt so horrible. I couldn't even manage to give it a week. He then told me to try 150 mg of Effixor (spelling?) and sent the prescription to my pharmacy. That medicine would cost me 60 dollars and I cannot afford that (yes that's how bad our money problems are). I'm not really sure where to go from here. I've been on Abilify and Latuda. I'm still having anxiety, pretty severe depression, and I feel very disconnected from myself and my surrondings. So my questions are, Are there any more medications that you guys can think of that I should give a try, and Is there somewhere I can find help paying for medication until I find a job? My psych also wants me to get some bloodwork done, does anyone know a good priced place I can do this around Houston, TX.?

It's a sticky thread on the insurance and finances forum. Hopefully you can find some information there to help you.

I've been on Effexor for a long time and can say it is worth trying. It's the only one that seems to make a difference. If you go on the Effexor's website, they offer a discount card and can get the med for as low as $4. You do have to fill some paperwork, but it is worth a try. Also, try a website called GoodRx.com they compare the prices of meds and have discount coupons. As for the blood tests, check with your local hospital. I was surprised to find out they are not as expensive as I thought. A CBC was $20.
Good luck!

Venlafaxine is generic for Effexor and he should have prescribed that. I got all my meds for free through for a long time through drug company programs. They don't really advertise them on their websites. My mental health clinic set me up with it. Here in Michigan they called it MAP. Like when I was taking Abilify no way I could afford it and there is no generic, but I got it free. I even got Effexor free even though there is a generic. Ask you pharmacist how much venlafaxine is.
