Due to female issues my GYN has prescribed me to go back to birth control pills. I currently take Lamictal 100mg daily. I have read there are interactions between BC and Lamictal causing the Lamictal to be less effective. I finally am starting to feel normal I see my Pdoc in 3 weeks. I will not start my BC without talking to him first. Any one else take BC with Lamictal? What did your Pdoc do?

Be careful with BC due to the deep depression is can cause!! My GYN put me on BC due to pain ( I had a tubal done many many years ago) and it just about killed me, or should I say caused me to kill myself!! It was bad for about 4 months.. I'm surprised I'm still here..

Wow thank you!! I think I'd rather deal with my female issues than risk my newly controled mental health.

you may also want to consider an IUD instead of BC pills, they don't have estrogen so no risk of increased depression. I made the switch a couple months ago for my migraines, which has helped.

When I use birth control, I use LoEstrin pills, but I find that can sometimes affect my moods. I think it's a matter of weighing the positives and negatives and keeping a close eye on it, perhaps seeing your pdoc more frequently in the few months after starting the birth control
