Please respond. My neck is very tight and painful since i have switched and my doc is out of town. she wants me to take 100 mg of prozac but it scares me........regards

I am sorry that I don't about this but I just wanted to tell you that it takes time for an antidepressant to really be felt, so try to relax and try to meditate if you can as that helps calm down anxiety. I am sorry you are struggling with anxiety, I have PTSD and I know how hard it is to deal with anxiety, try very hard not to feed it.

I often come to PC and just read different posts and look for ways to give out positive thoughts. I find that helps me focus on something else besides my anxiety and I do calm down.

I loved Prozac but I developed a tolerance after 3yrs and 80 mg and I chose not to go to higher dose.
It was brilliant for me. I could think, I had a memory and it didn't "dumb" me down.

I took Prozac before and it was helpful . I think everyone is concerned about medication side effects and the way drug companies have to spell out every side effect under the sun due to legal issues ..its enough to make lots of people scared to even try a medication..

When my Pdoc and I feel its time to change a medication .. we discuss the pros and cons .. Hes been a doctor for 30+ years and hes upto date on all the new meds and he is honest with me about side effects .. just because there are a bunch of " possible side effects " doesnt mean you will have them ...

Look at the possible side effects for tylenol or advil ... ridiculous !

Good Luck

I take Prozac not that high a dose yet. I took it before too, years ago and it really cleared my head I could think clearly. This time on it has been ok haven't been on it that long, it does seem to be helping with my depression and anxiety. Still I am a little anxious so next time I go to the Dr. I am going to ask him if I increase the dose if it will help more. We will see next week. I do try to use relaxation to help also.

I am on Prozac for my depression/anxiety. It does help. It does take weeks to feel the effects from it. Maybe you could ask the doc for a med that will help with your anxiety as needed? Just a thought! Good luck!!

AD's are so different for everyone. I got stomach muscle cramps from Prozac. Maybe they would have gone away but I didn't stay on it long enough to see. I switched to sertraline and had good luck with it. Hope the Prozac helps. Let us know how it goes.

I take Prozac for depression. It's turned out to be a good choice for me.

I wish you the best.
