I haven't seen much about Cymbalta and want to know people's experience with it. I take antidepressants, a whole cocktail and
now with fibromyalgia diagnosis.....my pdoc recommended cymbalta
but I am leery on starting anything new. Any advice?

I take Cymbalta 60mg. for my fibro and it is a big help to me. I'm not on any other antidepressant and only take lorazepam as a prn maybe a couple of times per month.

Cymbalta works as an antidepressant and a pain killer for some. Having fibromyalgia can put us into a depressive state physiologically. I find it has helped me in both ways. There are some side affects to it. For me, it gives me terrible dry mouth. I've also noticed that if I happen to run out and forget to refill and go for 1 day without it, I get physical withdrawals as in upset stomach, dizziness, lethargic and terrible moodiness. Good reasons for me to never forget to refill...LOL. But that is all me, it could be different for you.

I've noticed too that they are now prescribing Cymbalta for people with RA (rhuematoid arthritis).

I hope you have a good experience with Cymbalta. For the most part, mine has been great!

Thanks for the input. I think I may just give it a try. I may have to lower the dosage of my antidepressants to avoid too much serotonin but I am fed up with the pain and flare-ups that actually make me cry and I have a high tolerance for pain.

I'll keep you posted and thanks again.

I was unable to take cymbalta caused me serious stomach issues the first 3 days .. I was given it for Fibro pain .. I have tried i do believe every medication under the sun for my Fibro pain,, I get no relief from anything ..My pain stays at a constant level of 7 or above .. that said I have suffered for almost 2 years and i do know that now i have learned to cope with the pain more than when first diagnosed .. My Therpaist has worked with me using hyponotherapy to allow me to " self soothe" myself when my pain gets worse than my typical 7 .. and i am a firm believer now in meditation .. took me a while to really get the hang of it but its well worth it

Good luck !
