I'm new to this site and wanted to post a thread. I've been on-and-off of Sertraline/Zoloft for six years now and I'm about to try Cymbalta. I have no idea what will happen, but I think the Sertraline has run its course.

I was on cymbalta for 8 months, before we realized I had bipolar disorder. At first it looked like it was working, but we didn't realize that it just tipped me into a hypomanic episode, and then sent me into rapid cycling. Needless to say, didn't work too well for me.

side effects included mild nausea for me, which came and went, bad insomnia (which improved when I took it in the morning instead, but didn't disappear), and some confusion. It did mitigate the depressive episodes, so I guess it helped there.

The same happened to me. I was definately hypomanic at 30 mg and then when I moved up to 60 mg I was off the wall. But boy did I feel great! I was always diagnosed with depression and then later found out I was bipolar after having a mixed episode after drinking alcohol.

I probably would have stuck with the Cymbalta because I felt great and no depression. My Blood pressure went up, I didn't sleep, and I was getting attacks of blurry vision.

So just remember your switching from an SSRI to an SNRI. You may feel great and it may be the drug for you. Just be on the lookout for any side effects. The drug is also approved in Europe for urinary incontinence but I had the opposite effect. I had to pee all the time!

It definately lifted my mood though. I've heard others have had great success with it.
