Hi everyone.
I am wondering about anyone who has gone off meds for extended periods. I have been med free since March and I am feeling the winter doldrums I have a lot of anxiety issues that keep creeping in and causing anger spurts that seem uncontrollable. I am feeling so much melencholy right now. I really do not want to take meds beacuse I have so many sleep issues and am tired all of the time, even though I sleep at least 7 hours a day and have a c-pap machine that I sleep part of the night with. I end up taking it off sometimes while still sleeping because one of my issues is hyper sensitivity to touch and sound, and it bothers me after awhile. i have a 6000k full spectrum lamp that I spend about 4 hours a day by. I am really struggling with this decision. I am side effect queen, if the med has a side effect almost nobody gets, then I will definately get it. I am raising twins who are almost 9. I find I am doing merely the basics of life. Just getting by. But even when I was on meds for 20 years before I still felt that way alot, the just getting by part. I just do not seem to want to do anything and the things I have to do cause major tension and more than likely I will have an anger attack at some point before during or after them. Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated Thanks |

Well... I've not been on biopolar meds and needed them, but I CAN relate because I can go 2 years without a anti depressant, then BAM here i am in the cycle again, needing them again.
I have found it's best to do something when you are noticing it at first, even if you don't want to until you get more worse off. If you've been off of it since march, then I'm guessing that you will not need this med all of your life. Just when things get tough for you. So its not like if you start a med back up, that you will forever be doomed to take it for the rest of your life. btw, Welcome to the PC forums! ![]()

I would go to your primary care doctor and get a complete physical with blood tests, etc. and make sure there are no hormone, vitamin or other problems of you not getting something simple you need like that, and discuss the bipolar med issue with him/her.
