So I was recently put on Lithium and my hands shake more. I noticed it last night at work, and it makes it harder to scan upcs into our system. And then today, I went to play the piano, and my hands shock enough to mess me up many times.... it was very slopy, and not my fault. I was trying to keep my hands calm, but it didn't work. I"m amazed that typing is so easier.... Oh and then for work, I get dizzy when I move to quickly.... this could be a problem.....

Same thing happened to me on lithium, it started out with minor tremors and then just got worse.

It was embarassing and frustrating. I couldn't apply make-up, tie buttons, pour a drink or any of that kinda stuff, my pdoc's solution was to add AN0THER med!
My solution? Quit them all! So glad the shaking's gone

Sorry you're experiencing this, it's aweful

Hand tremors are a pretty common side effect of lithium. Some people only have them temporarily, and some are kind of stuck with them as long as they are on lithium. I always found them a nuisance, but not so bad that I thought I couldn't keep taking the lithium.

Alot of times the shakey hands will go away as your body gets use to the medication . Its always a good idea to let yoru Pdoc know how the meds are doing for you.

Good Luck

I was getting hand tremors because I was not drinking enough water. Lithium can cause dehydration, especially during the heat of summer. When you get dehydrated, it increases your Lithium levels, which can cause a bunch of problems for you. Tremors being one of them.

I've been on lithium for 6 years and still have the shakey hands. Sometimes is calms down for a while but returns. Ya if you try to control it they shake more

Drinking more water helped me.

I take the extended release type. I changed from taking them in the morning to taking them at night and that made a HUGE difference in my tremors.

I'm really sorry it's affecting you but especially for gift of playing the piano...
