Hi,
Now that I have figured out the name for this terrible side effect of abilify, can you tell me how it is treated, or if it is better to seek an alternative to the medication? I have been so pleased with the results of the med, but I really don't know how much longer I can put up with the odd feelings needing to move all of the time and still not feeling comfortable.
Thanks,
Bluemountains

Me personally, I'd try another med before adding a med to aleviate the side effects of a med. But there is a med, I think it's Cogentin (not positive about the med) that is prescribed to offset the side effects of the a-typical antipsychotics.

Akathisia is horrible!!

The problem with Cogentin or any of the Parkinson meds they use is they are not side effect free either. Those side effects are bad too.

Along with this question, does anyone know of any exercises or supplements that can alleviate the symptoms at all? Or has the problem calmed down after awhile? I want to make sure I'm prepared when I see the pdoc next week.
