I'm going through a med change soon, and I will hope it will help with this issue, because I think it is weird.

See, I have been very depressed lately, even though one of my meds is wellbutrin. Then yesterday I didn't take my morning meds because of a blood test and I didn't happen to take them when I got home. Now the same thing has happened in the past too, when I don't take my morning meds, my depression suddenly lifts. I wasn't thinking of the bad things anymore and I was laughing and joking with my husband. Today I took my meds and I'm getting depressed again, this stinks.

I dunno if it helps but my body did that on Wellbutrin. The whole depressed while taking it but happ-go-lucky when I missed a dose. It scared me actually. Got to the point that I had to be taken off the medication without weening because I became very suicidal and i was put into an IOP program to be monitored. IOP instead of the hospital because of insurance. So check with your pdoc, hopefully you can get this all resolved before it gets too far out of hand. ::

All medications, regardless of their usage as addressing psychiatric issues or not, have the side-effect of back-firing (with the exception of only a few medications). This can apply to medications to treat hypertension (high blood pressure) where the blood pressure will increase even further. For anti-depressant medications, the feeling of depression can intensify after 2-3 weeks of starting the regiment. You need to visit your pdoc and tell him/her of this side-effect. It could be due to an improper dosage, however, when this side-effect happens, it's better to avoid experimentation and have him/her put you on a different medication.

Well, I'm actually one more than just that one medication, I just thought it was weird I would have depression when I'm taking a med for it, I don't know what med is causing the problem.

Strange. I'd certainly bring it up with your pdoc. I take Wellutrin, too! I have seen ads about drugs that can cause depression (or make it worse) but not any drugs like Wellbutrin.

Yes, talk to your doctor about it. Some of the antidepressants I took did that. I take effectzor now and am pleased. Im also on a mood stabilizer.

Wellbutrin made me severely depressed and actively sui. The minute pdoc pulled me off it I was much much better. I did a 180. I had the worst reaction to that out of any med. I didn't realize it was this med until I had decided to stop taking it for two days to see for myself.

Well, the doc told me that I probably got depressed when I decreased my Saphris, and that is in fact around the time I got depressed. They lowered the Saphris to try to decrease my tartive diskinesia (I have uncontrollable mouth movements) and they also gave me xanax.

Well the med change is tomorrow and I'm scared. They are replacing a couple of my meds with clozapine to try to control that side effect. I'm scared for a couple of reasons. First, the weekly blood tests to try to detect a serious side effect. Second, they said I will probably get worse before I get better. I hate this, now I'm already depressed enough that the slightest thing makes me think of hurting myself. All they did was say I could just call someone if it gets too bad. I don't want to get worse before I get better!!! I hate this feeling and I want it to go away now.
