Ive been on Geodon for about 6 weeks with no real improvement. I started on 40mg and Ive been on 80 for the last 2 weeks. At first it was doing well then it just kind of stopped.

Has anyone had success on a higher dose than 80mg? Also did you find it to be less sedating on a higher dose?

Thanks in advance!
Rob

Check out askapatient.com for reviews of the med. As in any type of reviews, you get the horror stories along with the stories about how the med saved their life. I find them helpful as you can quickly read dozens of reviews posted by a cross section of users. Most of them tell you why they're on it and the dose so hopefully you can get an idea of how others responded to a higher dose.

If you decide on a higher dosage, make sure you get the EKG with it.

I had a rare side effect, unorgasmia, on high doses. I am now taking 80 mg and am doing just fine. I have neither mania nor psychosis. Very nice.

Geodon has been a life saver. I'm on 240 mg. Way above the usual cut off of 160 mg. I take it all at night now, b/c I started working and can't nap during the day. I get tired from it, but don't have a problem getting up in the morning. It has really helped with my hallucinations and psychosis. I've been on it for 2 years now.

Be careful going up on it. The first time I took it 5 years ago, my pdoc raised it too fast and I had a seizure. If that happens go to the ER, and tell them you need a congentin IV, then some of the congentin pills to take.

I was really hesitant going on Geodon b/c of past experiences, but we took it slow, and I had no problems.

I've been on 120mg for a week and feel better than on 80 but there's still a lot a room for improvement. Is it too soon to up dose to 160 after a week? Would love to hear back from people. Thanks!

I take 160MG geodon at bed time. I've been on it for a year. I am 100% drug and alcohol free.
