Does it ever get any better? I've been on 20 mg for two weeks now and 10 mg the week before and I can't sit still for 5 minutes unless I'm doing something, except I have nothing to do...

It drove me nuts and I stuck it out for 2 weeks, but it never got better, so I switched to another medicine. Sorry - that is no fun at all :-( Exercise kind of helped me get through it - anything to keep me busy and make me physically tired.

Well that's not good to hear. Thanks for you input, though. I might have to go back to clomipramine, ziprasidone and mirtazapine, though hopefully an increase in the latter. They were at least partially working. Otherwise it's on to a MAOI as it seems I've tried everything else.

There are side effects that go away with time, such as sedation or GI discomfort and those that DO NOT GO AWAY WITH TIME. Akathisia belongs to that latter category. You either take a drug to counteract it (cogentin, propranolol, etc.) or you stop Abilify altogether. There is no point in waiting.

Actually, the akathisia has eased dramatically. It took about a month - and I think alcohol made it worse - but the initial insomnia has been replaced by sedation, and I'm way not pacing as much. I'm ready to go up in dose really as I'm not noticing much antidepressant effect, and I only have a small amount of clomipramine left which I've still been taking, and I'm worried what will happen when I run out.
