Hi,
A military friend was recently evaluated for TBI. He was assessed and determined to have memory loss due to trauma while in Iraq. It got me really worked up because all of a sudden I realized that I have come to the point where I throw out my keys, money, cell phone, etc, while holding trash. I lose everything, including keys, cell phone, etc, in my car, at work and find them placed in the oddest locations. I cannot remember a telephone number from one moment to the next. I constantly accuse people that they did not tell me this or that. I become very angry. I have missed my exit at work 2 times recently. I struggle to remember common words or technical words for my job. I know what something is, just cant come up with the name. Many times that will come to me a little later. I had a near fatal overdose of several meds, including at least a third of a bottle of a 3 month supply of lamictal. I started thinking back and wondering if this overdose caused this issue. Now I am reading that this is a side effect of just taking lamictal. I take 600mg per day. Please help. This is starting to become noticeable at work.I am very upset about this. I dont have an appt w a neurologist until July 30. |

Welcome to PC, katie.
I can't speak to the overdose, but I know someone who takes Lamictal and also complains of memory loss issues. In fact, there was an article run in a local mental health magazine about the connection between Lamictal and memory problems. And of course I cannot think of the name of the magazine. But if I come across it again, I will let you know. I will post some links here to other discussions/info on it: Lamictal - Loss Of Concentration, Short Term Memory? - Other Depression and Anxiety Medications - The Depression Forums - A Depression & Mental Health Social Community Support Group Does Lamictal Cause Memory Loss? Hope some of this helps. There's also a link to Lamictal threads here on PC: http://forums.psychcentral.com/bipol...rm-memory.html http://forums.psychcentral.com/psych...mory-loss.html http://forums.psychcentral.com/bipol...at-dosage.html http://forums.psychcentral.com/bipol...mory-loss.html
