it seems my geodon is working, but causing horrible acid reflux. it has been waking me up every night now seeking relief beyond the prilosec tablet i regularly take. im miserable. tonight i could not relieve it and reached the point of vomiting after the tums and mylanta failed. geodon is my last hope for a med that works, and this is the only side effect i am experiencing from it.
any suggestions? |

How long have you been taking Geodon? This is the first I've heard of Geodon causing these symptoms but there is always a first for everything. Are you seeing a GI doctor to be certain it's acid reflux?
Also, I read somewhere where you shouldn't take an antacid two or three hours before or after taking Geodon because the antacid neutralizes the effectiveness of Geodon. Here is a list of Geodon's possible side effects: Anxiety, constipation, diarrhea, dizziness, drowsiness, dry mouth, feeling unusually tired or sleepy, headache, increased cough or runny nose, loss of appetite, nausea, restlessness, upset stomach, vomiting, weakness, or weight gain. My Geodon medical insert then goes on to say that if these side effects continue or are bothersome, check with your doctor. Last edited by cybermember; Dec 30, 2012 at 10:10 AM.. |

Possible side effect of Geodon is nausea, upset stomach, and vomiting. How long have you been taking Geodon and what time do you last eat something before you go to bed?

It does sound as though Geodon is the culprit but I'm not sure what can be done about it other than giving it more time for you to adjust to it. Sometimes side effects ease with time. Talk to your pdoc and see what they have to say.
For me, as a rule I try to eat no less than 4 hours before I go to bed because I believe that with less food in my stomach at the time I go to bed, the faster my sleep aid works. Also, in general, sleeping on a full stomach just gives me indigestion and interferes with my sleep. |
