I've been taking Celexa for four months. I was on 20mg and saw virtually no results. Just the other day, my doctor increased the dosage to 40mg and she increased the dosage of Risperdal to 2 mg.

How long does it normally take for increased dosages to take effect?

It depends on the med. I suggest you ask a pharmacist or even look up the drugs on the Internet. Or perhaps see what your doc says. I don't think many of these drugs just kick in overnight or the increased dosage take immediate effect. So, hang in here!

With SSRI's the initial effect usually takes about 4-5 weeks maximum, but once one is active in your system, the effects of an increase in dose should kick in under two weeks

It may take 4-6 weeks to begin feeling improvement and that improvement may not become more noticeable until a couple months after you started.

It seems like there are different suggestions running about whether this improvement would occur faster if you're increasing a dose or if it would still take weeks.
