hello, i have been off and on medications for over 10 years. not a bunch of different ones but have been long term. So my new Dr. I just don't feel comfortable and i did tell her about my feelings but she wrote out my new schedule since i am having extreme anxiety, not getting out of bed etc...
Okay so I am on Effexor xr 150 mg and Clonzepam .5 mg 3 times a day and trazadone --just a piece... So the clonzepam is not even taking an edge off the anxiety... I was on xanax for almost 10 years and it stopped working so now off to clonzepam that does not work for me for about a year and half. So I don't sleep and the trazadone at 50 mg is just odd for me and so out of it in the morning. So my new schedule. A switch over to Ativan. She told me that i don't really need to cross taper so just take a little bit of clonzepam if needed. I don't feel comfortable. any thoughts. Then 10 mg of Lexapro for a week with 1 week with 150 mg of Effexor xr and then 75 mg of Effexor Xr for 2 weeks with 20 mg of Lexapro and then stop the effexor... This makes me crazy. Where is the 37.5 she said not needed since the Lexapro will be in your system. Help anyone? Thanks so much.. I just am scared and so anxious and just want this all to stop.. Thanks. |

The thing I'd be most nervous about would be the effexor taper, It can be hell to get off of

225 mg to 150 mg and i felt like the flu. why do they do this? there has to be an easier tapering system without having to feel worse switching the meds...thanks. ![]() |

Tapering off Effexor shouldn't be a problem because the it's being replaced with another SSRI (Lexapro) so there should be less withdrawal effects.
I'm on Lexapro. It's an antidepressant that treats depression as well as Generalized Anxiety Disorder (GAD). I find it to be a very good medication for both disorders. Just know, switching medications takes time. Seeing if a new med works takes time. Have patience. ![]() |
