Besides me having ADHD, I have anxiety , but my last doctor wouldn't put me on anything besides buspar, and something that started with a c. I asked her her opinion on Xanax because i had heard tbat will decrease my anxiety and she told me its an anti convulsive . The buspar made me feel like crap. Really in the dumps and not relaxed .. Just felt nauseous.

I've been on other meds for anxiety but never benzos.
Any ideas on what I could suggest ?

Asking for a med is the best way not to get it.

Anytime I wanted a specific medication from my pdoc, I would always describe exactly the issues that its rx'd for, along with specifics like method of action, duration, etc.

You gotta set up the perfect situation.

Technically, all the benzodiazepines are anti-convulsants. They are ALSO effective at treating panic and anxiety disorders. They can be addictive, and that might be why your doctor is hesitant to prescribe it. Can you ask your doctor what she would recommend for anxiety, since the buspar didn't help, and other meds don't seem to be effective? Maybe if you gently lead her to benzos by asking about other meds and talking about why they may or may not be effective, you'll get a better response.

I've been on Xanax for about 4 months now, after trying a couple of other meds, and I've really noticed a decrease in the physical symptoms of my anxiety.
