Hi everyone,

I've been on 1500mg of lamictal for the past 10 months. I decided, for whatever reason, to stop taking it. I stopped for a week and towards the end of the week I felt like hell. I passed out onto my bed once seeing a really bright light..feeling like I am floating and unable to walk. So you can imagine what I was thinking.

I just feel like complete hell and am wondering how long it will take for my body to become stable again with the medicine.

I started taking it again so hopefully I'll feel better sometime soon.

I made a similar thread which didn't seem to go through. So if it comes up you can just disregard this one.

Thanks!

1500 mg of lamictal? I think not! You need to make sure you know what you take and how much for your own safety as a medical patient.

It took me a couple weeks to adjust to coming off lamictal "cold turkey" I was taking Seroquel and Wellbutrin too. I didn't feel really bad though. If you feel really bad, why not go off the drugs slower? If you tell your doctor you're going off medications, he will disagree but, you will insist stating either with or without his help and you'll walk out with a Rx for a lower dosage so you can wean off the drugs.

Oops. I meant 850. I don't handle my medication, but I thought I remembered someone saying 1500.

Yes, I think weaning off would be a wiser decision.

Yes, it's much wiser to taper. Stopping antiepileptics cold turkey has the potential to cause seizures in people without epilepsy.
Also, tell your doctor ASAP

Why don't you handle your medication? That's very dangerous. Are you considered mentally incompetent or deficient in some way? In that case fine, hope you have a trust worthy care giver who is willing to educate themselves on your behalf.

I would have researched it and/or talked with my doctor first. Don't know how it will be for you now (even if anyone could judge how it would be for another in the first place, depends on the person).
