My depression lifts when I smoke *sativa* marijuana (this is the uplifting, non-lazy, no-munchies type) because it energizes me to do stuff my depression won't. Problem is the high doesn't last long and there are other marijunana effects I don't want from it.

So my question is what medications give you the same energized feeling like this? I've heard Wellbutrin may do it. I know it's weird to compare psych meds to marijuana, but my GP said Zoloft would be like "smoking a joint" upon prescribing. It was my 1st anti-d and it just made me really tired instead. Thanks.

I've yet to find anything that makes me feel like marijuana makes me feel.

Nothing comes close to comparison for me. I use it to eat mostly. Otherwise, I'll go days without being able to bother to eat.

I agree with the other posters, nothing quite like marijuana, unfortunately. As far as I've tried, anyhow. Zoloft definitely did not do that when I took it, and I would definitely not say Wellbutrin does it. I'm currently taking Wellbutrin and while it does wake me up a bit, it doesn't quite give me the motivation or focus that I'm looking for (that I would previously get from sativa). As I quit smoking over 6 months ago it's sad that there's nothing I can do to get myself back to that mood or ability to function well.

Good luck! I'll be following this thread because I'm very interested in the replies.

Wellbutrin is the only antidepressant with an effect to give energy. But I couldn't per when taking it. Lol

Why stopped? Tolerance seems my biggest roadblock with it now.

Damn, if Wellbutrin isn't giving you all a kick, what's next step: Ritalin? ADD something? I haven't been diagnosed as such, but a chronic major depression for years.

Yes. But getting a doctor to prescribe add medicine off label use like that isn't very likely since it's a controlled substance.

Is sativa a blend like medical marijuana? Really!! Seriously idk
Our state has the medical marijuana laws in place. Things are changing.

It's just different types of plants and different types effect you differently. Medical has almost or all thc (the euphoric high you get) taken out and most is CBD which has lots of medical properties (even for schizophrenia!)
