Im 22 now Ive been on Seroquel since I was 17 ...in that time I was getting diagnosed as schizophrenic/bipolar and went through a lot of ups and downs including drug use and getting clean. For about 3 years I have been near symptom free and completely drug free. Right now my life is in a really great place except for one problem. I physically need 9 hours a sleep. Any less and I feel like total **** for about half the day then I am pretty good. If I get exactly 9 hours I am fantastic seems like this is related to the 600 MG of seroquel XR I take since before when I was younger 7-8 hours and I would be totally fine and even less and I wouldnt feel terrible. As you can imagine this is pretty inconvenient at times. Has anyone had a similar symptom on seroquel ? Besides this I am symptom free and have never been better. Seroquel has been a miracle for me and I doubt that things would have turned out so well for me without it. Once or twice I have forgotten to take it and it wasnt a pleasant experience so I am hesitant to adjust my dose after such a long time. It almost feels like it would be greedy to mess with it because feeling crappy for a few hours is nothing compared to what I went through before seroquel. Anyone ever had this problem ?

If a medication was working well ( like yours seems to be) I would not rock the boat over needing 9 hours of sleep.

Most everyone finds the need for more sleep on seroquel, I know I did while I was on it.

Ok I guess I accidently left a little detail out its kind of complicated to type. Although my body phyisically needs 9 hours of sleep for me to feel well the next day its not always easy to get the entire nine hours .I go to bed at 11 each night and wake up at 8. Sometimes I wake up at 7 or 730 and cant go back to sleep . I still feel crappy all day. If I could consistantly get the 9 hours easily it wouldnt be a problem. Hopefully that explains better.

Why not goto bed at ten pm so you have a little extra time just in case.

Life is good,

I am on 400 mg seroquelxr at night and 200mg seroquel reguiar in the morning and in the afternoon. I agree with Christina don't rock the boat if it is working for you. I am trying to get rid of my daytime doses due to fatigue but my night time dose is awesome and I sleep so well on it, I don't know what I would do without it. I went for years with terrible insomnia. Seroquel XR has been a god send.

dizzyqueen,
try to keep your weight in check, I understand you wanting seroquel for sleep while you come off your ambien. but it cant be there forever , right? I don't want seroquel in my life alot longer but right now it takes care of the awful voices and hallucinations.
