Background history: I suffer from MDD. I just started medication treatment in late 2012. I started off with Fluoxetine 20mg (I was prescribed 10mg initially by the pdoc and the pharmacy gave me 20mg. I didn't realise it until a week later -_-. Thus the really bad side effects), and it gave me really bad drowsiness and I slept like 16 hours a day (before this I was sleeping 4 hours a day...) and to be honest I wanted my pdoc to switch the timing to night instead of morning. Instead, she switched me to Fluvoxamine.

On Fluvoxamine, I was supposed to feel drowsy, yet I feel super awake. It gave me really bad anxiety (does anyone feel anxiety on any AD?) and I couldn't take the increased heartbeat, the really bad feeling in the stomach, the jelly legs, and inability to do ANYTHING. (a plus, my hands were trembling so badly)

Hence I was changed to Lexapro 10mg. I am on Lexapro for over 2 months now. There's still really bad side effects, as my body is really susceptible to the side effects, but it's more manageable than the first two. Throughout all the meds, I have NEVER felt happy. I always feel sad, empty... and rarely, do I feel numbness. Here I am thinking, I've been on Lexapro long enough, it should be taking effect right? Is it still too early for the medication to take effect? Or should I talk to my doctor to change my dosage or med altogether?

Also does anyone have increased sweet cravings while on Lexapro? I have really bad appetite, but despite the no appetite I still crave for sweets such as chocolate!! I crave for them like every hour and it's quite annoying

Thank you!!

I was on Lexapro and I don't remember food cravings. But the side effects vary from person to person. I'd ask your doc or a pharmacist if it's had time to go into effect. It might bring you up, but not to a place where you're really feeling good.....

if you have been on lexapro 2 month at 10mg you should have been lifted to 20mg. anxierty is a starter side effect but that goes in time.10 mg is not strong enough for a breakthrough with you i dont see why they never upped to normal 20 dose then you could always lower if to much. IF you carnt stand the start up side effects dont take ad,s everyone get worse before better , there is a new drug going into your brain , you body dont just say come on in buddy they fight it. ie side effects.
