Ok so I seen a psychiatrist for the first time last week. My issues: I have an eating disorder, I believe I have OCD, ADHD, and know I have some anxiety. Oh, and I know I have pain. Back pain, have had a bad back for long as I can remember. Ive been depressed, But I believe I can feel depressed because I am living with pain and an eating disorder. My ocd and e.d feed off each other. Sometimes I get down because I hate how my brain is, I have insomnia too... My family doctor already recommended Cymbalta for my pain/depression and anxiety. The psychiatrist recommended Cymbalta -for pain, but Prozac for ocd/anxiety and my e.d. Ive read Prozac was made also for treatment of eating disorders.. im a bit skeptical. I don't believe there is a pill to treat an eating disorder. But if it can help me get in the right state of mind so I can recover, then ok. But , I don't know what I cant stand more, my chronic pain, or my ocd... So im at a lost . Any suggestions/experiences/knowledge/thoughts to offer?

I'd recommend Prozac over Cymbalta simply because I have had much success with it,
and I hear more positive experiences from Prozac. However, Cymbalta, in theory, would probably be more effective seeing as it affects serotonin and norepinephrine. SNRI's are a nice hybrid between stimulant-ish antidepressants like Wellbutrin, and classics like Prozac, Zoloft, etc. In my experience, a med like Cymbalta has a good chance of making your anxiety worse, whereas Prozac is quite helpful. Best of luck ![]()
