I've been on Tegretol for for almost 3 months... I havent had my blood level monitored because of insurance reasons and instead of taking it 3 times a day I've been taking it twice a day... I want to get off the tegretol because it's $23 a month and I can't really afford it. Should I call my dr and talk to him. (He hasn't really listened to me in the past...)

Yes, definitely call your doctor. I think the level has to be checked to see if it's in the right range for one thing.

I would get a second opinion, since that first doctor is not listening to you. Unfortunatly, Tegretol must be taken as directed to get the best effect. I know, I am on it and have messed around with the dosage in the past. However, in my case Abilify had to be added for me to get the best mood stabilization.

Well I've been cutting back gradually... I'm only taking it once a day. My moods are still stable. I'm also on Seroquel and that helps with my moods.

You need to make him listen.
And if at all possible get your blood work done. Try finding a clinic to go to that could work with you. You'll have to look online. Perhaps your Doc can give you a referral. It's worth a try. |
