It was a pretty "eh" med for me. Former pdoc rx'd 1-4 25mg pills up to 200mg per day for anxiety. He said some people find it extremely sedating and can't take it for anxiety. I did not find it sedating. I think it did a little for me, but it was a pretty mild med. Nothing like a benzo.

I didn't notice any side effects though.

Best,
EJ

When I was in the hospital (Happy Go Lucky Ward!) They gave my visteril to calm me down from an encroaching anxiety attack. Well it did nothing for me. They ended up giving me a shot of thorazine after I escalated, but that's another story, but visteril is just basically an anti-histamine for allergies. Didn't do anything for me.

vistaril is the equivalant to benydryl it is worthless for real anxiety. It doesn't help like a benzo and that can be controlled in the hospital.

they have tryed all these things on me too and I was untouched by their meds and remained anxious until they brought out the antiphychotics at low doses of 12.5 zyprexa when i was already on seroquel at 800mg a day spaced throughout.
