I am on many psychiatric medications and I smoke about 4 cigarettes a day. Are they interfering with the medications? I would really like to know..

Cigarettes interfere with the metabolization of a couple of antipsychotics, but I don't remember which ones. But if you're only smoking 4 cigarettes a day and your meds are working for you, I wouldn't worry about it.

I don't think 4 cigarettes a day would interfere that much. Do you notice anything unpleasant when you smoke or negative side effects? or are you just curious.

considering the most common smoker has a metal illness , there would have been more said about it if it was serious. SMOKEING is what calm,s a lot of people that may other wise need meds. Its a drug like any other if you can get away without meds through smoking why not everything is a risk, and you dont get fat smokeing like meds, cancer maybe be but everyone takes that risk.

As per splitimage---its interferes with antipsychotics...my pdoc told me that if you don't smoke don't start but so many schizophrenics are smokers so you just need to adjust the dose accordingly. What meds are you on specifically if you want more info.
