Yesterday, my new pdoc prescribed me Wellbutrin150 xl. He said it will help my mood, help me stay focused( I have ADHD) and basically help with all my other problems! Plus I didn't even mention that I wanted to quit smoking!how does the Wellbutrin work for quiting smoking, does it lessen the cravings? I know it's not going to change everything, but is this one pill too good to be true?also, is it ok to take caffeine with Wellbutrin?

I've used Wellbutrin in the past as a temporary supplement when things got really stressful and the depression got really bad. I found it worked well - made me feel good and energetic. It aggravated the bulimia, though, so my doctor would not let me take it long-term. Aside from that, I didn't have any problems with it. I could still drink caffeine.

WELLBUTRIN is banned in England , something obout people with heart problem,s suffered something or other. We have zyban which is basicly near same and use for people to stop smokeing .But you can only have a 8 week script and thats it. If wellbutrin was in England i would try it, why not.

My pdoc prescribed it 'off-label' for depression and I'm in the UK, though I tried pretty much every other antidepressant before my pdoc would prescribe it. It didn't help me though. Just thought I'd let you know it is available if your doctor will risk it and you agree to the risk of off-label usage.

I don't have major depression or any real depression as such but got it from my pdoc, gave it to me without any problem but I wasn't feeling anything while on it, it didn't stimulate me in any way so might be due to lack of depression and I take lithium my mood stabilizer so don't know what happened. Took it once during the day and felt groggy that's all took it at night and there was nothing such as like in a mood elevation.

thank i didnt no that, they say it a good pick me up for depression. but a wind up for anxierty , thanks How does he script it off label , do you mean you pay for it yourself not the nhs tell me how this works please

No I didn't pay for it privately, I got it through my NHS pdoc and pharmacy. I just had to talk her in to prescribing it. She only prescribed it cos I've tried loads of other stuff that hasn't helped, so she agreed as a last resort. She made it clear that it wasn't usually available for depression in the UK and got me to agree that I understood it was risky cos it was off label, then she gave me a prescription and I took it to the chemist to be dispensed. I can't remember if it came as Zyban or generic, but the dose is higher for depression 150-300mg.

I found it didn't so much make me more anxious, it made me very reactive to fright, so my phone ringing would scare the crap out of me and my heart would race madly etc. It did nothing for my energy levels or depression unfortunately, but also didn't make my psychotic symptoms worse. I was happy that I started to lose weight on it though; the only benefit for me.

It's helped me a lot with depression and actually took away my hallucinations. It also gives me energy. I am going through dosage changes and recently switched to 300mg. I have way more energy and am a lot happier so far. My husband has noticed a dramatic improvement since my dose was upped, but there have been side effects, as with any drug.

I take Wellbutrin 300mg SR. For one, It does lessen my cravings for a cigarette. It has helped my mood and it has also seriously increased my libido! This is not a med that will cause impotence. It causes the exact opposite. Wellbutrin is a great drug in my opinion, but I take the SR version so I don't know about the XL version. Just my 2 cents.

is the ZYBAN they give in england short term for smoking the same compound of Wellbutrin , it must have a good effect because i have seen it change hands in english bars on the drug sene., i asked for zyban to try on depression but english docs only give 1 script and the mental hospital dont even reconise it has a mental med. Has i say wellbutrin is banned in England ,seisures and heart problems dicovered in trials

Yes they are both bupropion. The dosage for smoking cessation is lower than the dosage for depression though.

It does not sedate me, and actually gives me energy. I take it in the morning. I do suffer from anxiety, but am not sure if the Wellutrin makes it worse. I also do drink coffee sometimes.
The cigarettes just start tasting like ash, and you start to get over it

AD responses and side effects vary from person to person. And not all ADs work on the same neurotransmitters or use the same mechanism (mode) to work. Some repress chemical interactions and some increase the amount of chemicals present.

wellbutrin is used has a add on to a lot of AD,S to give you motivation, it is known to cause anxierty for that reason.

Well, it's been one week since I've been on the Wellbutrin. So far, I think it's working! I happened to get sick( Cold) and couldn't breathe! I quit smoking 4 days ago and hardly had any cravings! That never happens with me! I am very addicted to cigarettes! If that was the only thing it did, I would still take t, it's amazing!!!

Wellbutrin is the only drug I have taken that doesn't cause weight gain. also no sexual side effects. It gave me energy when I took it. my Doc wanted me to try Abilify and Depakote. I notice a difference still wished I was taking Wellbutrin.

Wellbutrin is not meant for anxious people, it can increase their anxiety, and some physician's asst. prescribed it to me, obviously clueless... I had a very bad time with my heart racing just sitting still, and I was still forced to taper off of it, of course. It was so scary. I refused to exercise until it was out of my system. Interesting it is banned in England for heart reasons.

I couldn't take Wellbutrin as it caused me to be majorly suicidal within 3 days of taking it. So you could say major side effects for me. I have known some people to tolerate it well though, I now am on Viibryd and it is great for me.

I asked my doc for an anti-anxiety med and welbutrin is what he put me on. I attempted to take it about a week and a half ago and started feeling shakey and my anxiety shot through the roof! I called him and he told me to stop, give it a week and then try again to make sure that it was the meds and not anything else causing my symptoms. Well, I am on day 3 and I am once again feeling shaky (although not really shaking) and my anxiety is once again higher then my "normal". Is it possible that the anxiety could level out after taking it for a few weeks?

Not if thats the only med your on, YOUR FEEDING ANXIERTY

Yes, if def sounds as if the Wellbutrin is making your anxiety worse. I was prescribed an anti-psychotic to help alleviate part of the anxiety

I have had great results w wellbutrin! I was on 20 mg of lexapro and 2.5mg of ability and therapy, and had shaken off the actively suicidal thoughts but was still very much passively suicidal. Adding 200mg of wellbutrin in the a.m. really cleared all suicidal ideation completely. I went up to 300mg of wellbutrin XL recently as I wanted to get off of the SSRI and my doc warned me I might experience more anxiety w/o the SSRI. I couldn't get off of the lexapro b/c the depression, self recrimination and self doubts came back w a surge (but that's another story!) At any rate, I've had very good results w wellbutrin as augmentation to my other antidepressants.
