Since moving to California, I have been experiencing brain zaps, for the first time ever in my time taking meds (and I took meds for over a year in high school, and have been taking them continually for the past 2 years). The first time it happened was Friday, which was my first night here probably because I didn't take my meds until about 3am EST and I usually take them around 10pm EST if not earlier...at first I was super freaked out because I had no idea what was going on, but I was also so tired I was unable to do anything -- I had been up for about 21 hours at that point)...but man was it hard to sleep even after I realized what it was! I've only ever read about brain zaps before this experience, but the buzzing, almost electric shock feeling of them is crazy! They have been decreasing as my body has gotten more used to the time change, but I'm still getting them. OMG it's annoying and hard to deal with. Ugh.

I have had only "minor" brain zaps when I have been weaned off certain drugs, but I do understand that they can be very distressing. I hope they will go away before too long. Evidently the drug you are taking must not be something you can go too long without, so it would be important to try to take it when the time for the next dose occurs.

Right now I am battling weight gain as my main detrimental side effect, but I'd take another 20 lbs. before I'd take brain zaps. After childbirth, I have to say that brain zaps are the worst physical experience ever. My heart goes out to you and anyone who is experiencing the zaps and I hope they are over SOON!

Unfortunately, my brain zaps have not stopped. They are now worsened/actually induced by anxiety, and I'm trying to get in to see my pdoc ASAP. I called today, and he was out. I probably can't make an appt. tomorrow even if they have one...so it's gotta be Monday. It's awful because when they happen, I have absolutely no control of my mind or my body, and it is absolutely terrifying, especially the longer lasting ones. And the headaches they leave behind? Migraine level!

Have you normalized the time you take your meds?

I've heard some people have reduction in brain zaps from taking Omega-3 supplements.

I've gotten back to my normal schedule, yes. But like I said, the brain zaps aren't just from meds...they're also stress/anxiety induced.
