I have been on Seroquel for many years now 300mg at night at the moment, but am tired of the way it makes me want to eat especially if I don't go to bed right away. Any sugg. for an alternative (It takes a Mack truck to knock my *** out) so something strong w/out the weight gain/hunger pain effect. I have loved the seroquel otherwise and have used it for years. Thanks.

Trazodone has been working for sleep with me, though I do not take it every night. I also noticed the low doses were more stimulating. However, it seems to have its own hangover effect -- instead of being drowsy in the morning, I have a headache and a stuffy nose. It will subside in an hour or so unless I took a big dose and didn't have enough time to sleep it off. However, for a good night's sleep, those SEs are worth it for me. I would rather have a headache for an hour or two than feel sh*tty all day. It should not cause weight gain or loss.

i am on seroquel too 400 at night and 200 twice a day. I would like to quit but last night i didn't take it and didn't sleep a minute. I take ambien also and I don't think it will work on its own. I can see how after a few years on it there would be concern about how to get off effectively and safely.
