Hi everyone!

I am currently on Seroquel and I believe I have actually gained ten pounds in the past week.......

I was on geodon, but it made me grind my teeth.....

Any advice for the weight gain?

Thank You,

Brontoset

Have you tried abilify...it's pretty weight neutral. The problem with AP weight gain is even if you fight it for a few weeks or months it will catch up with you eventually. It's hard not to eat when you are hungry. I actually ate two stale cupcakes this one time because I felt I needed to eat...the first one I didn't know was stale but the second one I knew and ate it anyway. I basically added an extra snack time right before bed.

I haven't gained any weight while on Risperidone, and I've been on it for years. Also haven't gained any weight on Seroquel, but I've only been on it for a short while, and on a low dose.

But I'm really strict about my diet - with absolutely no snacking between meals.

A couple of years ago- I went to a dietician and following her advice managed to lose 20 lbs while on a moderately high dose of risperidone plus AD's. so it is possible to lose weight while on them. I've kept the weight off, but have stopped losing as I'm now in a boarding house that provides meals, and I can't cook for myself.

Hmm....my first suggestion was going to be Geodon because I didn't gain any weight on that. Maybe try Latuda...that actually massively decreased my appetite.
Thanks for this!

And I on Seroquel gained nothing over the course of a year. Though I may not be a prime example since I was well into my ED that year...but actually, I gained on Zyprexa when I was well into my ED, so maybe they did act differently with my metabolism. Idk.
